nSIGHT Consulting was started to give manufacturers something the equipment market doesn’t: honest, experienced advice on measurement, with nothing to sell on the side.
When manufacturers weigh a measurement decision, almost everyone they talk to has something to sell, the equipment makers, the technical reps, the integrators. Good advice is hard to find when it’s attached to a quote.
nSIGHT Consulting is the independent voice in that conversation, and it is three people: Ron, Joe, and Paul. We work across every major brand and take no commissions from any of them. What we bring is decades of running large-scale manufacturing and industrial metrology operations, the kind of experience that tells you what actually works on a real shop floor and what just looks good in a demo.
And we don’t just have decades of history in this field. We’re active in it right now. Ron and Joe both hold leadership positions in industry, workforce development, and metrology-centered professional and charitable organizations, and both have spent recent years working with some of the largest manufacturers in shipbuilding, aerospace, automotive, and heavy manufacturing. This isn’t a 30-year-old contact list. It’s a current read on what’s actually happening on shop floors today.
The firm is the consulting division of nSIGHT Metrology Solutions, LLC, a Virginia-based company built around 3D metrology and large-scale manufacturing. What that looks like in practice is that we show up, spend time on your floor, and talk to your people at every level, from the operator running the instrument to the manager who signs for it. Then you get an honest read and a plan that will not interrupt production, will not cost more than the problem it solves, and will still be working a year after we leave.
Every major brand on the table, no commissions, no hidden stake in the outcome. The recommendation is shaped by your needs and nothing else.
Our guidance comes from running these operations for decades, not from a brochure. We know what survives contact with the shop floor.
If a tool fits, we’ll say so. If you don’t need us, we’ll say that too. Clients get an honest read, not a pitch.
Decades in industrial metrology and dimensional control, from the shipyard floor to the business side.
Four decades in dimensional control, large-scale measurement, technical sales, and laser-based metrology. Ron led the Dimensional Control Department at Newport News Shipbuilding and went on to help build and lead the service and sales side of the metrology industry.
Four decades in optical and 3D industrial measurement, shipbuilding, welding, metrology leadership, training, production, and project management. Joe led shipfitting, welding, and metrology at one of the country’s largest shipbuilders.
Twenty-five years as a shipbuilder, then nearly two decades leading sales and business development across defense, naval shipbuilding, nuclear energy, and capital equipment. Paul has held senior leadership roles at APCO Technologies, Automated Precision Inc. (API), and Framatome, closing major capital programs in highly technical, regulated markets.
Between the partners, nSIGHT brings hands-on depth across the full arc of industrial measurement, from the instrument in your hand to the department that runs the program.
Running and leading dimensional control on large, complex structures where accuracy drives whether parts fit and programs stay on schedule.
Deep familiarity with laser trackers, optical systems, and portable measurement across the major technologies and how they behave in real conditions.
Years inside the shipyard and on heavy-manufacturing floors, where measurement has to work at scale and under real production pressure.
Building and leading the departments, processes, and people that keep a measurement program running long after the equipment is installed.
Time on the industry side building service organizations and guiding buyers, exactly the perspective that makes our independent read valuable.
Leading welding, shipfitting, and production work, so our advice accounts for the realities of schedule, throughput, and the floor.
nSIGHT runs lean on purpose. The partners stay close to every engagement, and we extend our reach through a vetted network of independent specialists when a job calls for it. You get senior attention without the overhead of a big firm.
The same vantage point is useful to people buying companies rather than equipment. We advise investors, acquirers and lenders on the portable metrology industry through a separate practice, under a stated wall: we do not advise an investor on a company while advising manufacturers on buying that company's products, and nothing a client told us in confidence enters that work.
